Opposition to Senate Joint Resolution No. 35: A Call to Uphold Justice and Protect the Unborn
Dear Esteemed Members of the Connecticut General Assembly,
I write to you as Norman Harold Patterson Jr., Director of the Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion (www.AbolishAbortionCT.org), to stand against Senate Joint Resolution No. 35—a proposal that seeks to enshrine the legalized killing of unborn children under the banner of “equality.” This is not justice; it is lawlessness. This amendment represents the legal codification of murder, an attempt to repackage iniquity as a civil right. I will not stand by in silence.
The Constitution and Our Posterity
The Preamble of the U.S. Constitution declares that we must “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” Posterity—our future generations—are the very children you are seeking to eliminate. How can you claim to secure liberty for them when you are advocating for their destruction?
The Fourteenth Amendment and the Right to Life
The Fourteenth Amendment clearly states that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”
The child in the womb is a person.
Science confirms that life begins at conception.
To deny them life is to deny them equal protection under the law.
This amendment directly violates the Fourteenth Amendment by stripping an entire class of human beings of their most basic right—the right to live.
Connecticut’s Constitutional Violations
Connecticut politicians claim to uphold the state constitution, yet they blatantly violate it by permitting abortion. The Connecticut Constitution states:
"All men when they form a social compact, are equal in rights; and no man or set of men are entitled to exclusive public emoluments or privileges from the community."
Yet, you have created a special privilege—the “right” to kill your own offspring—that strips another human being of their rights entirely. This is legal tyranny and moral cowardice.
The Cowardice of the Pro-Life Movement
For decades, I have encountered nothing but spineless, compromising pro-lifers—those who claim to be against abortion but refuse to take a stand for immediate abolition. They bow to the idols of political pragmatism, begging for small concessions instead of demanding justice. They advocate for regulations on murder instead of its total criminalization.
Here is the truth:
Pro-life laws regulate how, when, and where abortion can happen. Abolitionists demand that abortion be abolished completely.
Pro-lifers accept exceptions. Abolitionists reject every excuse for murder.
Pro-lifers push incrementalism—gradual changes that perpetuate evil. Abolitionists demand immediate justice.
Pro-lifers seek political approval. Abolitionists fear only God.
This is why the Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion will not compromise. We reject every bill that does not demand the immediate and total abolition of abortion.
History Will Judge You
We look back in horror at past evils:
Slavery: It was justified by claiming African slaves were not fully human.
The Holocaust: Nazis legally exterminated Jews by denying their humanity.
Abortion: You deny the humanity of preborn children to justify their murder.
Just as history condemns the slave owners and the architects of genocide, history will condemn you. And not just history—God Himself will judge you.
God’s Judgment Has Already Begun
Isaiah 10:1 warns:
"Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression."
You sit in your chambers and draft iniquitous decrees. You pass laws that destroy innocent life and call it “justice.” But God is not mocked. His judgment is already upon this nation, and it has barely begun. Connecticut, and the United States as a whole, will reap what it has sown.
A Call to Repentance
Yet, even now, there is forgiveness in Jesus Christ. You do not have to go down in history as a defender of murder. You can repent. You can turn to Christ and seek righteousness. The blood of Christ is sufficient even for the blood on your hands.
We Will Not Back Down
You have seen me standing outside and inside the Connecticut State Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Legislative Office Building. You have heard my voice proclaiming the truth in the name of Jesus Christ. I am the head of the Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion, and we are not like anything you have encountered before.
We will not regulate murder.
We will not support incrementalism.
We will not beg for scraps of justice.
We demand immediate abolition.
We are the voice of the unborn. And in the name of Jesus Christ, we will prevail.
Reject Senate Joint Resolution No. 35.
Do not be counted among those who legislate murder. Repent while you still have time.
In The Only Cause That Matters,
Norman Harold Patterson Jr.
