An Open “Letter” to Former Senator Lisa Seminara
Dear Lisa,
As your term concludes, I want to address your parting statement and its implications. You wrote about advocating for the most vulnerable, yet this commitment fell short when it came to defending the unborn children of Connecticut. As Norman Harold Patterson Jr., Director of the Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion (www.AbolishAbortionCT.org), I urge you to reflect deeply on this missed opportunity and the consequences of compromise.
While you focused on fiscal responsibility and local control, you failed to take a strong stance against the grave injustice of abortion—the deliberate taking of innocent lives. Connecticut continues to be a place where over 10,000 babies are sacrificed annually, many with taxpayer funding. This is not only a tragedy but a profound failure to protect the most vulnerable among us.
Your personal pro-life position was undermined by your refusal to oppose pro-abortion legislation or champion the cause of equal justice and protection for the unborn. God does not honor passive or divided stances on such critical moral issues. Instead, He calls leaders to stand boldly for truth, as Proverbs 31:8-9 commands: "Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy."
Regrettably, your compromise has allowed an overtly pro-choice senator to take your place, someone who will actively advance child sacrifice in Connecticut. This is a stark reminder that failing to take a firm stand for righteousness is not neutral—it enables evil to flourish.
I attempted to reach you numerous times to discuss these matters, but you consistently avoided engagement. Meanwhile, I have repeatedly confronted Paul Honig, boldly calling him to repentance for his murderous stance on abortion. Unlike you, he does not hide his position, though it is equally wicked.
As an abolitionist, I must emphasize that there is a critical difference between abolitionism and the pro-life movement:
Abolitionism demands the immediate and total abolition of abortion without compromise, recognizing it as a sin against God and a violation of His law.
The Pro-Life Movement, by contrast, often accepts incremental changes and regulations that perpetuate the injustice of abortion.
The Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion exists to proclaim God’s truth, call leaders to repentance, and demand justice for the preborn. Abortion must not be regulated or reformed incrementally; it must be abolished entirely.
Lisa, I implore you to reflect on your actions—or inactions—and their eternal consequences. The blood of innocent babies cries out for justice, and your passivity has contributed to their slaughter. I hope this time away from office will lead you to repentance and a renewed commitment to stand for what is right.
If you ever have the opportunity to serve again, I pray that you will stand boldly for the unborn, rejecting compromise and embracing the call to abolish abortion entirely. God’s Word is clear: "To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin" (James 4:17).
May this letter encourage deep reflection and lead you to a path of true advocacy for the most vulnerable.
In Christ,
Norman Harold Patterson Jr.
