A Satirical Apology to the Pastors of Connecticut
I need to issue a formal apology to the Church in Connecticut. For years, I have stated that pastors in this state are failing to take a public stand against abortion. Clearly, I was mistaken.
After all, out of approximately 2,600 pastors in Connecticut, there are at least two—yes, 0.08%—who actively preach against abortion both from the pulpit and at the abortion clinics. Let’s acknowledge these faithful men:
Pastor Jim Loomer of Milford Christian Church
Pastor Ollie Gray in Waterbury
Now, to be clear, neither of these men are members of the Connecticut Foundation to Abolish Abortion, but I have personally reached out to both of them. And to their credit, they are among the only pastors in this state who are publicly standing against abortion—not just with words, but with action.
With these overwhelming numbers, how could I have possibly thought that Connecticut pastors were silent? Obviously, with two out of 2,600 pastors taking a public stand, the Church is leading the charge in abolishing abortion!
How foolish of me to think that the other 2,598 pastors, who remain safely inside their buildings, might bear any responsibility for the ongoing slaughter of the unborn in our state. Clearly, the Church is doing just fine and has no need to repent of apathy, compromise, or cowardice.
So, to all the pastors of Connecticut who are not standing at abortion clinics, who are not publicly preaching against the shedding of innocent blood, and who are not engaging in open-air gospel proclamation—consider this my public apology.
I sincerely regret expecting you to live up to biblical standards.
Please, go back to your regularly scheduled church programs, free from the burden of standing against the legalized murder of the unborn.
As for me, I’ll continue standing with the 0.08% who are actually obeying God’s command:
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”(Proverbs 24:11)
Wake up, Church of Connecticut.
